Eagle DA Fails To Bring Felony Charges In Bicycle Case

Eagle County District Attorney, Mark Hurlbert, decided to not charge a Morgan Stanley wealth manager with felony charges for running over a bicyclist and fleeing the scene. The bicyclist, a doctor from New York, was seriously injured in the incident. The DA decided that bringing felony charges against the wealth manager would affect his ability to earn a living and pay restitution to the victim. While this may make the DA feel better about not doing his job, the victim was outraged by the DA’s failure to bring felony charges.

Do you think the DA would have done the same thing for you or me?

  1. KJ McElrath says:

Of course not…an ordinary working stiff would be nailed to the wall.

The reason Martin Enzinger is getting away with this is because we have gotten to the point that there are two separate, unequal systems of justice in America – one for the very wealthy, for corporations and the well-connected – and one for the rest of us.

The only real hope for true justice in this case is to convict Enzinger in the court of public opinion, but I doubt he or his billionaire cronies give a tinker’s damn about that.

It’s as novelist and retired LAPD officer Joseph Wambaugh has said. In America, “a rich man’s prank is a poor man’s felony.”

Welcome to the New World Order.

By the way, is it true that Enzinger made a sizable contribution to Hurlburt’s campaign?

  2. Thanks KJ. There’s no denying that this case shows the unequal systems of justice. I don’t know about the contribution to Hurlburt’s campaign. Did you see how Enzinger failed to properly file papers with the SEC? Never ends with this guy. I just hope he is stopped before he kills a rider.
