Story of the Week: Colorado Driver of Submerged SUV Saved by Strangers

After another driver allegedly ran a red light and collided with the SUV, the SUV was sent careening into a nearby creek in Denver. Two guards that were employed by a medical center that was located close to the scene of the accident and two passersby leaped into the creek to assist the unconscious driver in the SUV. The driver was inside the vehicle for almost ten minutes before he was removed. The good Samaritans pried open the doors to the SUV and cut the driver’s seat belt as they waited for Fire Department rescuers to make it to the scene of the crime. Firefighters administered CPR to the driver and were able to resuscitate him prior to his transport to the health center. The driver that allegedly caused the accident received a citation for careless driving that resulted in serious bodily injury.
