Motorcycle Crash on I-70 in Colorado

Motorcycle Crash on I-70 in Colorado
$1.7 Million

The Crash

Rita was riding her motorcycle eastbound on I-70 when all of a sudden a giant blanket flew off of a nearby truck and landed in her path. But this was no ordinary blanket. It was a concrete tarp, used by concrete companies to cover concrete products during transportation. They are heavy and they are sturdy. Rita hit the tarp and went down. She was severely injured and ended up in the hospital for a long stay.

The Investigation

Rita hired The O’Sullivan Law Firm and we began our investigation. It turns out that the concrete company was denying the fact that the tarp was theirs. However, we found a witness who had actually chased down the concrete truck to let them know that the tarp had flown off and caused a crash. We then also learned that the company had gone back for the tarp. There was no question that they were liable.

The Claim

Due to Rita’s extensive injuries, her treatment took time, and therefore her case took time. Rita had multiple broken bones, lacerations, jaw and head trauma, and faced multiple surgeries. We were ultimately able to secure compensation from both the concrete company and from Rita’s own underinsured motorist coverage (UIM).

The Final Settlement

$1.7 Million
