Fatal Traffic Incident on I-70 Eastbound Near Peoria Street

DENVER, CO 8/22/2025. A tragic accident occurred on August 22, 2025, at 5:36 PM Mountain Time on I-70 Eastbound in the Central Park neighborhood near the intersection of N Peoria Street in Denver. The accident involved two passenger vehicles and resulted in one fatality. The incident, which happened about a mile south of Peoria Street, was initiated when one of the vehicles, driven recklessly, was changing lanes. Consequently, the vehicle collided rear-to-side with the second vehicle, struck a utility pole, and overturned. The location was specified as being on a non-intersection roadway under dark but lighted conditions. This unfortunate event counts as one of many incidents in the area, adding to a total of 1,158 reported since August 22, 2024.
