Personal Injury Attorneys in Fort Collins, CO
The O’Sullivan Law Firm Serves Fort Collins, CO
Home to Colorado State University, some of the most iconic craft breweries in the nation, and fantastic access to the Poudre River and outdoor activities, Fort Collins is a beautiful town with a quickly growing population. Since 1998, the population of Fort Collins has grown more than 60%, as Denverites flee for the smaller town feel, and out-of-state entrepreneurs and young families recognize the amenities the city has to offer. With population growth comes more traffic, and Fort Collins has seen a related increase in car accidents over the years. However, in 2018 there were fewer severe crashes than in the previous year, and the number of bicycle accidents and motorcycle accidents also decreased. Unfortunately accidents involving pedestrians were up, as were DUI accidents. If you were in a car, motorcycle, bike, or pedestrian accident in Fort Collins, please reach out to us.

What is a Contingency Fee?
If you are looking for an attorney to help you after an accident, you should know that there is a distinct difference between personal injury attorneys and other types of lawyers. Personal injury attorneys don’t charge you a dime for anything until after your case is settled. If you have met an attorney who charges you for a consultation or asks you to pay a “signing fee” to handle your case, run the other way!
Personal injury law is one legal specialty that works on a contingency fee, which is simply a fancy way of saying, “free until we win.” You should pay nothing to your personal injury attorney until he or she secures a settlement for you from your case. At that point, your attorney will recoup some costs and receive an agreed-upon percentage of your settlement.
And by the way, it’s free to call me up to discuss your case. I would enjoy the opportunity to hear what you’re facing and to offer my help.
Are Roads in Fort Collins Dangerous?
According to Allstate’s 2019 Best Drivers report, Fort Collins ranks number seven in the country for having the safest drivers. While this is something the city should be proud of, there are still plenty of bicycle, motorcycle, and pedestrian accidents across the city. According to a recent article in the Coloradoan, the most dangerous intersection in Fort Collins is, surprisingly, not in downtown Fort Collins or near the university: it’s the intersection of College Avenue and Horsetooth Road, which is several miles south of the heart of the city. In fact, the three most dangerous intersections in Fort Collins are all south of downtown, within a two mile stretch of each other. While we hesitate to jump to any conclusions as to why this area of town is more dangerous, it may be due to the fact that drivers in downtown Fort Collins and near the university are driving more carefully, looking out for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists because of the sheer population density of those areas. However, all Fort Collins drivers need to be more cautious and stay aware of their surroundings, no matter what part of the city they’re driving in. The City of Fort Collins takes traffic safety seriously, and it conducts annual studies to evaluate how well they’re improving road safety for everyone.
