I am proud to announce that the O’Sullivan Law Firm granted another scholarship to a deserving First Tee of Denver participant at the organization’s annual scholarship luncheon, held on March 8, 2016.
The recipient was Jonny Sundeen, who has been a part of The First Tee of Denver program for eight years. Jonny has held numerous jobs, served on the organization’s Youth Leadership Council, and even attended national training sessions and leadership summits. It has been an honor to watch someone progress through the program like Jonny. What he has done over time is the true embodiment of what The First Tee strives for, helping kids grow as both golfers and people and then allowing them to inspire others.
Jonny received a $10,000 scholarship from the O’Sullivan Law Firm, which he can use at any school he chooses. Another First Tee participant, Kaya Shearer, also received a $10,000 scholarship from another donor.
The mission of The First Tee of Denver is to use golf as a tool to educate kids academically, socially and physically. The organization introduces inner city and disadvantaged youth to golf, helping to instill in them the game’s most important skills: responsibility, respect, perseverance and integrity.
Participants unanimously identified school as a setting into which they transferred the life skills they learned from golf. They also reported the following:
The O’Sullivan Law Firm has been sponsoring scholarships for First Tee participants since 2013, bestowing $10,000 gifts each year.
