Pikes Peak Bike Week is sure to be the kick-off of a new motorcycle tradition in Colorado and we want to see you there! The O’Sullivan Law Firm has sponsored the event but our main goal is to raise awareness about BikerDown, a nonprofit organization started by bikers for bikers.

BikerDown helps injured bikers and their loved ones to cope with the difficulties they face after a motorcycle accident. The organization sends volunteers to hospitals and to riders’ homes, helps secure important medical equipment, and offers emotional support as people put their lives together after an accident. The organization gets calls nearly every single day from bikers and their loved ones who are seeking support. It’s a tremendous asset to our biker community.

Additionally, BikerDown offers annual memberships that include Aflac Insurance, roadside assistance and more. Founder Laurie Eaton-Montoya, who will be at Pikes Peak Bike Week, is on a personal mission to spread the word about how important it is for every motorcycle rider to have disability insurance.

“If you have a family depending on you, you owe it to them to be proactive in your riding,” says Easton-Montoya. “You have a duty to make sure that they can pay for your care. What happens if you are permanently hurt or even temporarily injured? It doesn’t matter if it’s not your fault. Even something as simple as road rash can take days or weeks to heal and, depending on your line of work, that could be devastating to your financial situation.”

BikerDown’s Aflac Accident policy is included in the organization’s $35-per-month membership and can give riders the added financial assistance they need to recover. The Aflac accident policy also includes life insurance benefits in the event of a fatality.
